Current product coverage
The dataset contains 22 source-dated products. This is a selected retail comparison, not an exhaustive list of every available share class or savings account. Data-review batch: 2026-09-06. Individual successful source checks appear in the quote register.

Use the source-backed snapshot
Download the dated product data (CSV) to inspect rates, source URLs and prior-year tax fractions. Blank exemption cells mean unknown, not zero. The file is a research snapshot, not a live price feed. State-specific overrides and interpretation limits are described below and in the methodology.
Federal and state tax coverage
- All states and DC: selectable with your own marginal tax rate. Selecting a state does not supply or verify a tax bracket.
- Government funds: issuer 2025 eligible-income percentages are used as prior-year proxies. CA, CT and NY qualification is separate from the annual percentage.
- Vanguard municipal funds: the 2025 federal-income document confirms the tax-exempt income-dividend share for the listed funds. CA and NY fund state allocations are supported by the state supplement.
- National municipal restrictions: Fidelity and Vanguard supplements disallow the listed national funds’ home-state allocation in CA and MN. Fidelity also flags NJ. IL does not exempt indirect state/local municipal income through mutual funds. Other issuer/state combinations remain uncertain unless separately supported.
- Indiana and Utah: FTEXX’s dedicated 2025 letters report 10.91% and 31.88% exempt-interest allocations, respectively. These differ from the simple home-state allocation. The unresolved federal split still prevents a point ranking when it affects dollars.
- DC: qualified municipal interest from other states remains exempt for individuals under the cited DC guidance. Taxable distributions are not made exempt by that rule.
- Other national municipal cases: state allocations alone do not prove exemption eligibility. Unresolved cases stay as ranges. This is not a completed 51-jurisdiction legal review.
- Local taxes and AMT: local exemptions are not modeled; any entered local tax applies to all income. AMT scenarios exclude municipal funds. NIIT applies only to modeled federally taxable income.
Why some data cannot be filled in automatically
Fidelity directs holders of state-specific municipal funds to their tax reporting statement for certain state details. We do not replace that missing information with 100% merely because a fund has a state in its name. Likewise, a fund appearing on an issuer’s website does not establish availability or fees at a different brokerage.
